Since obtaining her law degree in 2001, Rebecca Whitcombe has practiced almost exclusively in family law. She has represented clients in all aspects of domestic relations litigation, has represented children as child representative and guardian ad litem, and has served as a mediator in family law matters.
Rebecca received her Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Bonaventure University in 1995 and her Juris Doctorate from Cornell Law School in 2001. She worked as an associate for other firms before opening her own practice (Whitcombe Law PC) in 2010. In 2020, Whitcombe Law PC joined with Curtin Law LLC to form Curtin Whitcombe LLC.
Rebecca Whitcombe is a member of the Illinois State Bar Associate and the Lake County Bar Association, and is currently the Vice President of the Association of Women Attorneys of Lake County. She was Co-Editor of The Docket, the Lake County Bar Associations' monthly legal publication, from 2009 until 2013, and has been on the editorial board of The Docket since 2006. She has written articles that have been published in The Docket and the Illinois State Bar Journal and is a regular presenter to bar associations and other groups regarding issues from contempt to custody to QDROs.
Nicole Slobe is an associate attorney with Curtin Whitcombe LLC. An experienced family law litigator and skilled mediator, she now focuses exclusively on retirement benefit division. Prior to joining the Curtin Whitcombe LLC team, Nicole was a solo practitioner for over ten years and represented clients in all aspects of domestic relations litigation, including divorce, custody, removal, maintenance, child support, post-decree modification, parentage, and adoptions. Nicole was also a court-appointed mediator and served as a guardian ad litem and child representative for the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit.
Nicole is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, the Lake County Bar Association, and the Associate of Women Attorneys of Lake County. She has presented numerous times to bar associations and other groups on various family law topics. Nicole received her undergraduate degree from Mary Washington College in 2003, and her Juris Doctorate from Roger Williams University School of Law in 2007.
Tracie Wells joined the team as a receptionist in 2015 and now serves as Curtin Whitcombe LLC's Office Manager and Legal Assistant.
Tracie has worked in the legal field for over twenty years, and makes client satisfaction a priority. She is the glue that holds Curtin Whitcombe LLC together. Her experience, personal skills, and organizational proficiency make her a vital and irreplaceable part of the firm.
Kathleen Curtin spent almost three decades in the corporate world before attending law school and exploring a new path. After providing pro bono services to non-profit legal organizations, she recognized an unmet need in the field of retirement division and launched Curtin Law LLC to concentrate in this highly specialized area of family law.
Kathleen received her Juris Doctorate from DePaul University College of Law, where she graduated cum laude and was a member of the DePaul Law Review. She also earned her MBA from Long Island University and her bachelor's degree in chemistry from Farleigh Dickinson University.
In December of 2021, Kathleen retired from the practice of law. Her extensive knowledge and work ethic live on through the continued services provided by Curtin Whitcombe LLC.
Winston, Melvin, and Aaron are our office support staff. They are the goodest boys and help us to remember not to take life too seriously.
